Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed key enhancements on Sheikh Zayed Road to improve traffic efficiency, reduce congestion and increase capacity.
The project focused on expanding major sections along the vital corridor connecting residential, commercial and economic landmarks like the Dubai International Financial Centre, Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, as well as banks, hotels and entertainment facilities.
The latest enhancements include a key upgrade near the Financial Centre Metro Station, where the service road in the Abu Dhabi-bound direction has been expanded from three to four lanes, increasing capacity by 25 per cent.
This improvement accommodates 3,200 vehicles per hour, reducing congestion and cutting journey times from five to just two minutes.
Further enhancements include optimizing the traffic merging distance between Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street, in the Dubai-bound direction.
This has resulted in a 25 per cent reduction in travel time, from four to three minutes, ensuring smoother traffic flow.
