Sir Alex Ferguson to leave Man Utd ambassador role

Sir Alex Ferguson will leave his role as an ambassador of Manchester United at the end of the season after talks with the club's co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ferguson has been on a multi-million pound contract at the club since retiring from management in 2013, and as the former Premier League champions look to cut costs, the decision has been made for the Scot to leave his role.

Over 250 staff members have been made redundant already, saving United £10 million (AED 48 million).

Ferguson, the club's most successful manager ever, is a 'global ambassador' for United and regularly watches the team from the director's box at Old Trafford.

The club are currently 14th in the Premier League under manager Erik ten Hag.
