Portugal found the net nine times against Luxembourg, despite the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, to maintain their 100 per cent Euro 2024 qualification campaign.
Liverpool’s Diogo Jota scored a brace and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes was also on target for the home side.
Ronaldo was suspended for the fixture, but it mattered little as Portugal went into halftime 4-0 ahead.
Fernandes bagged a hat-trick of assists en route to the thumping victory.
The win means Portugal will qualify for Euro 2024 with three games to spare should they win at home against second-placed Slovakia and third-placed Luxembourg fail to win at Iceland.
Elsewhere in qualifying Wales picked up a vital win against Latvia in Riga. The victory leaves Wales in fourth place in Group D but just three points behind group leaders Croatia.
