Three French soldiers have been killed by toxic fumes in Guyana.
The military men were in the middle of an operation targeting illegal gold miners in the area when the incident happened.
They were getting ready to place explosive devices to destroy the underground facilities used by the miners when several of them were intoxicated by toxic fumes that were emitted from the bottom of a gallery.
According to the ministry, five soldiers were airlifted and one is still in serious condition.
