Earthquake of magnitude 6.2 strikes off Alaska island

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake has struck Alaska, with authorities confirming there's no tsunami threat to the region.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake struck 81 km west of the city of Adak at a depth of 10 km.

It was followed by more than 30 aftershocks of magnitudes in the range of 2.1 and 3.9 within two hours.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
