The Arab Parliament joined the Arab League in condemning the storming of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) headquarters in East Jerusalem by Israeli forces.
Mohamed bin Ahmed Al-Yammahi, President of the Arab Parliament, condemned Israel's actions and described it as a blatant assault and a violation of international law.
He urged the international community to take decisive measures and protect the premises of international organisations and their staff, holding the occupation responsible for the escalation and its consequences.
Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stated that the Israeli justifications were unlawful, adding that the attack was targeted at ending UNRWA’s presence and operations in the occupied territory.
Meanwhile, Gheit requested for countries to intervene and stop attacks on the agency, which provides services to millions of Palestinian refugees, noting the recent United Nations decision to renew its mandate for three years.
