Johnny Depp has “resigned“ from the “Fantastic Beasts” films. The decision comes after Depp lost a court case in the United Kingdom where he was suing a newspaper for liable for calling him a wife beater. A judge ruled that a 2018 article in The Sun was “substantially true” when it accused Depp of abusing ex-wife Amber Heard. While maintaining his innocence, Johnny issued a statement saying in part, “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and I have respected and agreed to that request.” Warner Bros. says the role will be recast.
The film that Harry Styles is currently working on has been shut down due to COVID-19. Don’t Worry Darling has only been shooting for a short time, but now I must hold production for 14 days after a crew member tested positive for the virus.
