The numbers are in, and the “Friends” reunion was huge.  Not surprisingly, HBO Max got lots of eyeballs on the TV event of the year, with viewership nearly at the level of the film “Wonder Woman 1984.”  An independent analytics company says that 29% of streaming households watched “Friends: The Reunion” a the day it came out, compared to 32% for “WW84.”  Disney’s “WandaVision” had an impressive 34% for its 2-episode premiere.

Was Matthew Perry okay during the “Friends” reunion?  Fans were left wondering what was up with the actor who seemed to slur his words a bit during the show.  A source said that he had emergency dental surgery on the day of filming in April.  Perry has had a difficult time with substance abuse in the past, so the rumors were flying.   “Friends” co-creator Kevin Bright was asked about it and said, “I talked to him. It was great seeing him again. And what people say is what people say. I don't have any[thing] to say about that, except it was great to see him. And I think he's very funny on the show. But yes, I think he's OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward."

Hollywood producers are breathing a little sigh of relief after this weekend’s box office returns.  The first big pandemic release of a cinema-only film found “A Quiet Place II” making nearly $80 million worldwide on its first weekend of release. That’s a big sign that people may be cool with returning to the cinema to be around other human beings. About $60 million of that was in the US where vaccinations have been doing pretty well - 50% of adult Americans are fully vaccinated.

Naomi Osaka, after threatening to skip the post-match media sessions during the French Open followed through and was a no-show for reporters.  The French Open also followed through on their promise to fine anyone who doesn’t show up for the press conferences, fining Osaka $15,000.  Osaka says she doesn’t want to do press due to the mental stress it causes during a big tournament.   If she continues to miss these debriefings with the media the fines will go up and she could potentially be disqualified from the Open.

It was an event we haven’t seen the likes of in more than a year... 130,000 fans packed into one place, watching a sporting event.  That was the scene in Indianapolis, Indiana, as the 105th Indy 500 went down yesterday.  There were some rules - mask wearing in large groups, and seating was a bit spaced out - but it was a scene straight out of 2019.  Brazil’s Helio Castroneves won the race - the fourth time, which ties the record for most Indy wins.
