UAE President, Romanian PM discuss bilateral ties

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday received Romanian Prime Minister Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, who is on a working visit to the UAE.

During the meeting at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, the two leaders discussed opportunities to develop cooperation in crucial sectors, mainly economy and trade, renewable energy, food security and technology.

They also reviewed major regional and international issues of common interest, most notably reducing escalation in the Middle East and efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and enhance the humanitarian response.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed noted that relations between the UAE and Romania extend back to the early years of the UAE’s formation and are characterised by continuous growth that serves the development and progress of both nations.

Ciolacu said that Romania maintains a keen interest in deepening its ties with the UAE, especially in the economic and investment fields, while benefiting from the country’s inspiring development experience.

The Romanian Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to the UAE President for the warm reception and generous hospitality.

Sheikh Mohamed and Ciolacu witnessed the announcement of two memoranda of understanding, one in the field of artificial intelligence and digital economy, and another between the UAE Telecommunications & Digital Government Regulatory Authority and Romania's National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications.
