Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman has departed the UAE following the conclusion of his state visit to the country.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan accompanied Sultan Haitham to the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi to bid him farewell.

Until its departure from the UAE airspace, the Omani leader's flight was accompanied by Emirati military aircraft.

Earlier in the day, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, held talks with Sultan Haitham.

"Our relations are historic, our brotherhood is rooted, our economies are interconnected and our future is one," said Sheikh Mohammed, who added that the UAE and Oman are pillars of strength for each other.

On Tuesday, Sultan Haitham also visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He was briefed on the mosque’s distinctive architecture and Islamic design, its unique collections and its key role in promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence and openness, inspired by the values of the late Sheikh Zayed.
